Qatar refuses to fund Gaza reconstruction alone

Qatar will do everything possible to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people, but it does not intend to finance the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without the participation of other countries.

The remarks were made by the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Caliber.Az reports via The Peninsula Qatar.

“In the case of the State of Qatar, we will continue to support the Palestinian people. We will do everything possible to alleviate their suffering, but we are not the ones who will simply write a check <…>. That is essentially our position. At the same time, we will not leave the Palestinians without aid if no one else helps them,” he said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.

The Qatari Prime Minister emphasised that Doha will provide funds to assist Palestinians “on the condition that the aid actually reaches them.”
