Renowned Azerbaijani Islamic scholar's grandson visits Shusha VIDEO

One of the participants of the third Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth held in Azerbaijan's Shusha city was Russian [citizen] Mansur Dzhemal.

He is the grandson of the famous theologian, Islamic scholar, orientalist and philosopher Geydar Dzhemal [Heydar Jamal] and the son of journalist-director Orkhan Dzhemal [Orkhan Jamal], the press service of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with the Diaspora told Caliber.Az.

Father and son, who are natives of Shusha, became famous thanks to the constant defence of Azerbaijan's fair position in the Russian information space.
Mansur Dzhemal gave an interview to the Diaspora TV programme "Motherland is not far", in which he shared his memories of his grandfather, as well as the joy of being in his native land, Shusha, for the first time.

Member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, artist Zohrab Dadashov, who was invited to meet with the Diaspora youth at the Summer Camp, painted a portrait of Azerbaijan's young compatriot with coloured paints at that moment and presented him with this work.

The third Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth, organised by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora together with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was held from August 2 to 8, 2022. The partners of the camp are the Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry, the Youth Foundation, the State Tourism Agency and the State Reserve Department of Shusha city.

This grandiose project was attended by 115 people representing 50 countries. This included both Azerbaijanis living in various countries of the world and representatives of people who have a friendly attitude towards Azerbaijan.

The implementation of the project after the brilliant victory of the Azerbaijani people in Karabakh and the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis (Victory Congress) is of particular importance.

At the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis, held on April 22-23, 2022 in Shusha, Azerbaijani President, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev called on Azerbaijanis living abroad to never break ties with their historical Motherland, to periodically come to Azerbaijan, not to forget their native language, to study the history and culture of Azerbaijan, together with the diasporas of friendly peoples, to promote Azerbaijani realities. In this context, summer camps for Diaspora youth can also be regarded as the implementation of the Azerbaijani president's recommendations.

The 1st Summer Camp of the Diaspora Youth was held under the slogan "100th Anniversary of the Republic" in Shaki, and the 2nd Summer Camp "Nasimi-650" was held in 2019 in Shamakhi.
