Rescue teams search for survivors after building collapse in Aleppo PHOTO

Emergency crews are working to rescue residents trapped under the rubble after a five-story residential building collapsed in the al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhood of Aleppo.

Raed al-Saleh, Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, said specialised technical teams had been dispatched to the site to accelerate rescue efforts. Civil defence teams are clearing debris and creating safe access routes to reach those trapped, while preliminary reports suggest that families may still be under the rubble, Caliber.Az reports via SANA.

According to the minister, search-and-rescue units equipped with trained dogs and heavy machinery have been deployed to assist with debris removal and speed up access to the affected residents. Authorities have also begun evacuating nearby buildings as a precaution to ensure civilian safety.

The building collapsed in the al-Ashrafiyah district, leaving residents trapped. The number of people inside the structure at the time of the collapse remains unknown.
