Romania summons Russian ambassador following drone incident
Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Russia’s ambassador, Vladimir Lipaev, following a drone impact on a residential building in the eastern city of Galați, Foreign Minister Oana Toiu announced on the social media platform X.
“We summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Romania’s security is our absolute priority.
We have confirmation from the Ministry of National Defence that the drone which crashed into a residential building in Galați was of Russian origin,” she wrote.

The foreign minister said Bucharest will officially announce consequences for diplomatic relations and further steps at the EU level.
“The decision was taken following this extremely serious incident, and we will officially communicate the consequences that this lack of responsibility on the part of the Russian Federation will have for the diplomatic relations between our countries, as well as the next steps at the European level regarding sanctions packages,” she added.
