Russia and Belarus expand freight transport to Uzbekistan

19 April 2026 14:23

In the first quarter of 2026, Uzbekistan recorded a significant increase in demand for road freight transportation, according to the international logistics platform ATI.SU.

The number of transport requests to the country rose by 72% year-on-year and by 57% compared to the previous quarter, Caliber.Az reports via Uzbek media.

The main growth came from the Russian route, where demand increased by 80%, as well as a twofold rise in requests from Belarus. A slight decline was observed in shipments from Kazakhstan, although the overall volume from this direction remains small.

Export shipments showed more moderate dynamics, with a 10% year-on-year increase, but a 36% decline compared to the fourth quarter. The largest share of requests is directed to Russia (+8%), while growth was also recorded in shipments to Belarus and Kazakhstan.

On domestic routes, demand tripled compared to the same period last year and increased by nearly 50% compared to the fourth quarter. Experts link this trend both to real market dynamics and the growing use of digital logistics tools.

ATI.SU representative in Uzbekistan Farid Vakhidov noted that the slowdown in exports is connected to traffic congestion at the Russian-Kazakh border and tighter customs controls. Overall, demand for freight transport continues to grow across almost all directions.
