Russia bolsters presence on Israeli border
Russian forces plan to establish two additional observation posts on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, adding to the existing seven.
Alexander Rodionov, a representative of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defence Forces in Syria, stated that Russian troops, who have been active in Syria since 2015 at the request of the Syrian government, have not vacated any positions in the region, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
On the contrary, their presence has grown.
On November 10, Russian forces opened an eighth observation post on November 9, located in the Tal al-Ahmar area on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights.
The Russian flag has been raised over the site.
The move is said to aim at "protecting the region from any potential incursions amidst heightened tensions in conflict zones spanning Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Israel."
