Russia drops half-ton shell on key Ukrainian pontoon bridge in Kharkiv
16 January 2026 11:39
Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) reportedly struck and destroyed a pontoon bridge across the Oskol River near Kupyansk in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region using a half-ton shell, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The bridge, officials said, was being used to move troops, military equipment, and supplies to a combat zone that is otherwise difficult for Ukrainian forces to access, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Russian authorities described the weapon as a 500-kilogram “smart” shell equipped with a universal guidance and correction system, allowing for precise targeting of the crossing.
