Russia fires more than 30 missiles at Kyiv in major overnight assault
Kyiv came under a large-scale ballistic missile attack overnight into Sunday, July 19, as Russian forces launched more than 30 missiles, including Zircon hypersonic missiles, at the Ukrainian capital within a 30-minute period, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
The Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) reported that numerous explosions were heard across the capital during the air raid alert.
According to the KCMA and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the attack caused multiple fires and significant damage in several districts of the city.
In the Solomianskyi district, a residential building and a supermarket caught fire. Rescue teams evacuated residents, while authorities reported at least six people injured.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, an administrative building and more than ten vehicles were damaged, and windows were shattered in nearby residential buildings.
Fires also broke out in a dormitory and a shopping centre in the Dniprovskyi district. In the Desnianskyi district, cars and non-residential structures were set ablaze, while a private house caught fire in the Sviatoshynskyi district.
According to updated information from the Kyiv City Military Administration, one person was killed and more than ten others sustained injuries of varying severity.
