Russia, India expand cooperation into new areas, says ambassador

09 February 2026 13:20

Russia and India have opened new avenues for collaboration, particularly in the field of labour mobility, Denis Alipov, the Russian Ambassador to India, said in an interview with a Russian TV channel.

The ambassador highlighted ongoing military-technical cooperation with new areas like labour mobility, joint Superjet production, and Il-114 T-300 aircraft procurement, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

“We have a military-technical cooperation program in place until 2031. New directions have emerged in our interaction, such as labour mobility. We have specifically agreed on joint work on licensed production of the Superjet and the purchase of a batch of Il-114 T-300 turboprop aircraft,” the ambassador said.

He added that this is only an initial stage, and Russia will need to actively develop this area to “strengthen its position in this niche of the Indian economy.”

The ambassador also emphasised that Russia and India have already signed a substantial package of intergovernmental, interagency, and corporate agreements.

“In total, 29 agreements. We have agreed on strategic directions for our cooperation. In this context, I would like to highlight the program for developing strategic directions through 2030,” he concluded.
