Russia launches over 180 drones in coordinated strike on Ukraine
On the night of October 8, 2025, Russian forces launched a massive drone strike on Ukraine, deploying 183 attack drones from multiple directions, the Air Force reported to RBC-Ukraine.
The attack began around 18:30 on October 7, with Russian troops deploying drones of Shahed, Gerbera, and other types. The drones were launched from five directions within Russia and two from Crimea, with approximately 100 of the drones identified as Shaheds.
Ukrainian forces responded with aviation units, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups.
By 09:00 on October 8, preliminary reports indicated that Ukraine’s air defence had intercepted or neutralised 154 drones across the northern, southern, eastern, and central regions of the country.
In addition, 22 attack UAVs were destroyed at 11 separate locations.
