Ukraine repels over 100 Russian drones and S-300 missiles in massive night assault
In the early hours of July 2, Russian forces launched a coordinated attack on Ukraine involving four S-300 surface-to-air missiles and over a hundred drones, Ukrainian military officials reported.
The missile strikes originated from the Kursk region, while the drone assault came from five directions: Bryansk, Shatalovo, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
Ukraine’s air defence systems successfully intercepted the majority of the incoming threats, neutralising 79 drones across the northern, eastern, and southern regions. Of these, 40 drones were shot down outright, while 39 others were lost or disrupted due to electronic warfare measures.
"Hits by enemy strike UAVs were recorded at 14 locations, as well as the fall of shot down drones at 2 locations," the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
That same night, Russian troops again struck Kharkiv, with a confirmed hit in the Novobavarskyi district. One of the enemy drones targeted a non-residential one-story building, causing a fire that engulfed approximately 300 square meters.
Meanwhile, the settlement of Vylkove in the Izmail district of the Odesa region was attacked by Russian Shahed UAVs. Local authorities reported damage to the port and tourist infrastructure as a result of the strikes.
