Russia may deploy Oreshnik missile within 24 hours, Ukraine says
Ukraine’s Armed Forces have said there is a high probability that Russia could deploy a medium-range ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar test range within the next 24 hours, warning of a potential escalation in aerial threats.
In a statement released on June 12, the military urged the public to remain alert and to respond immediately to air raid warnings, saying: “Within 24 hours, there is a high probability of the enemy using a medium-range ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar range. Do not ignore air raid alerts.”
The warning suggests that the system in question may be the Oreshnik missile, although no official confirmation has been provided.
Kapustin Yar, located in south-western Russia, is a long-established missile test site.
