Russia “more than neighbor” to Uzbekistan, president says

Russia is not only a neighboring country for Uzbekistan but also a strategic partner of the republic, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Addressing a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Mirziyoyev highligted Russia's significance for his country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Russia for Uzbekistan is more than a neighbor in the region; it is our time-tested strategic partner and ally,” the Uzbek leader said.

He added that Russia and Uzbekistan have jointly developed and deepened industrial cooperation, including the expansion of production chains and the localization of manufacturing processes.
