Russian missile, drone attack on Kyiv leaves 21 dead, 85 injured PHOTO / VIDEO / UPDATED

The death toll from Russia's latest strike on Kyiv has risen to 21, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The emergency service said 85 people were injured in the attack, including two children.

"Response and recovery operations are ongoing. The information is being updated," the agency said in a statement.

Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones in the early hours of Thursday, July 2, killing at least 10 people, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The strikes sparked fires and caused significant destruction at multiple locations throughout the city, with damage reported across nine districts of the Ukrainian capital.
