Russia redeploys air defences near Moscow, Crimean Bridge – Zelenskyy

24 June 2026 16:07

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia is redeploying air defence systems to Moscow and the Crimean Bridge, citing a report from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) outlining measures to implement Kyiv’s strategy of pressure on Russia and steps aimed at creating conditions for peace.

In a post on Telegram, Zelenskyy highlighted what he described as several recent successful Ukrainian strikes inside Russia.

“Among the recent effective strikes on the occupier’s territory, it is worth noting the destruction of more than 60,000 tonnes of ammunition at a Baltic Fleet arsenal near St. Petersburg. In addition, military intelligence analysis confirmed that the necessary targets from the list of Russian military production facilities had been reached. Ukraine’s Defence Forces accurately struck Russian enterprises producing radio electronics and other critical components for the Russian military,” he said.

Zelenskyy also stated that Ukrainian intelligence had obtained internal Russian documents assessing the impact of Ukraine’s long-range operations and identifying Moscow’s response measures.

“One such measure is the redeployment of air defence systems from Russian regions to Moscow and the Kerch Bridge (Crimean Bridge). In fact, these are the two areas the Russians have been ordered to protect by weakening defences in other directions on their own territory and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. We will draw our conclusions,” he stressed.

The Ukrainian president added that he had received a separate report on Russia’s missile production and strategic military aviation capabilities.

“We are preparing new, entirely justified response measures to Russia’s prolongation of the war and its strikes against Ukrainian territory. It is important that as many Russians as possible understand that it is the Russian leadership’s refusal to pursue diplomacy that is prolonging the war. Ukraine has presented substantive diplomatic proposals,” Zelenskyy noted.
