Russia says trilateral summit with US, China "quite feasible" at APEC

A trilateral meeting between the leaders of Russia, China and the United States on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November is “quite feasible,” a senior Russian diplomat has said.

Marat Berdyev, Russia’s Ambassador-at-Large, told Izvestia newspaper that while discussions on specific arrangements remain premature, such a meeting could be both practical and beneficial.

“It is still premature to talk about specific meetings. However, in my view, such a trilateral contact would be very useful. In practical terms, it is quite feasible, as the three leaders of the major powers are expected to attend the event,” he said.

The APEC summit is scheduled to take place in China on November 18–19, 2026.

President Vladimir Putin is set to lead the Russian delegation and will attend the summit in person for the first time in a decade.

The APEC secretariat has also indicated that US President Donald Trump has expressed interest in participating in the gathering.
