Russia strikes Ukraine with 135 drones overnight from five directions
Russia launched a large-scale overnight drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 135 unmanned aerial vehicles — including about 90 Shahed and Gerbera strike drones — from five directions across its territory.
The attack began around 7 p.m. Kyiv time on November 5, with drones launched from Kursk, Millerovo, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo inside Russia. Ukrainian officials said the assault targeted multiple regions across the country, prompting widespread air raid alerts, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
According to preliminary data as of 9 a.m., Ukraine’s air defence forces shot down or suppressed 108 of the 135 drones, but 27 managed to hit targets in 13 locations. The Ukrainian military said the strikes caused damage in the north, south, and east of the country, though information on casualties and destruction is still being clarified.
Ukraine’s aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare teams, and unmanned systems units were all involved in the defensive response.
