Russia continued a series of attacks on Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, leaving people dead and dozens injured, while also striking Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, according to Ukrainian emergency services and regional authorities.
Shelling targeted Kharkiv city and several communities in the region, including Solonytsivka, Derhachi, and Blyzniuky. Units of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service responded to the aftermath of the strikes, extinguishing four fires and working at multiple locations alongside medics, pyrotechnicians, and community rescue officers.
According to the State Emergency Service, a missile strike hit the Solonytsivka community on the morning of December 24, killing one man and injuring 13 others. A fire caused by the impact was quickly brought under control. Later that evening, shelling in Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district set a facility ablaze, leaving one person injured.
Further attacks followed overnight. On the night of December 25, a guided aerial bomb struck the city of Derhachi, causing a fire at a warehouse belonging to a civilian enterprise. No casualties were reported in that incident. Another fire broke out after an attack drone hit a warehouse building in the village of Bashylivka, part of the Blyzniuky community. Emergency responders swiftly extinguished the blaze.
At the same time, Russian strikes were reported in southern Ukraine. During the night, the Odesa region was again hit, with the attack targeting the port and industrial infrastructure.
According to the regional administration, one person was killed, and two others were injured. Administrative, production, and warehouse facilities sustained damage, and fires broke out at several sites. Rescuers promptly contained the flames.
The body of the deceased was recovered from under the rubble, while the injured received necessary medical care. All emergency services remain on site as efforts to eliminate the consequences of the strike continue.
Russia also launched drone attacks on the Synelnykove area of Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region, specifically striking the Mezhova, Dubovykivka, and Vasylkivka communities. The head of the regional military administration, Vladyslav Haivanenko, reported that the attacks sparked fires and damaged a lyceum, two private houses, vehicles, and gas networks.
Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing across the affected regions as authorities assess the full extent of the damage caused by the latest wave of attacks.
