Russia, Ukraine to hold new prisoner exchange on April 24
24 April 2026 12:32
Russia and Ukraine are set to carry out a new round of prisoner exchanges on Friday, April 24, according to Shamsail Saraliev, a State Duma deputy and member of a parliamentary coordination group overseeing Russia's war in Ukraine, according to Russian media.
The planned exchange follows a previous swap conducted ahead of Orthodox Easter on April 11, when both sides released 175 prisoners each. In addition, seven Russian civilians from the Kursk region were returned, including five women and two men. The oldest among them was reported to be 91 years old.
Earlier in 2025, ahead of Easter, Russia and Ukraine also carried out a prisoner of war exchange on a “246 for 246” basis.
