Russian-made kamikaze drone found off Istanbul coast Video
A drifting Shahed-type kamikaze drone, reportedly linked to the Russian military, was discovered off the coast of Istanbul’s Arnavutköy district.
Footage of the object was published by Turkish outlet Yeni Şafak, Caliber.Az reports.
Initial analysis by Türkiye Today suggests the drone is a Russian Geran-2, based on Iran’s Shahed-136 unmanned aerial vehicle. Turkish Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the scene after local fishermen reported the object, and authorities are currently examining the drone. An official statement on its ownership has not yet been released.
This is the latest in a series of drone incidents in Turkish territory. In recent weeks, several drones have either been shot down or crashed after entering Turkish airspace.
In December, Türkiye shot down one drone and discovered two additional drones that had crashed within a five-day period.
