Russian missiles hit residential buildings in Ukraine’s Kharkiv, killing two

Russian forces launched missile strikes on residential high-rise buildings in Ukraine’s Kharkiv on the morning of August 9, RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and regional administration head Oleh Syniehubov, two people were killed and others were injured, with reports of people trapped under the rubble.

The first strike hit the Saltivskyi district, destroying floors between the seventh and 10th stories of one of the buildings, as Terekhov noted that 13 people were injured. Later, the mayor said a second strike hit a neighboring high-rise building, stressing that the attack was deliberately directed against residential buildings.

Syniehubov clarified that 12 people were injured in the shelling and that all of them were receiving medical assistance. Missiles also struck an office building nearby. A rescue operation is ongoing at the scene.
