Russian Pacific Fleet conducts artillery drills in Indian Ocean
A detachment of Russia’s Pacific Fleet has conducted artillery exercises in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean as part of ongoing naval drills.
The drills involved the corvettes Rezky and Hero of Russia Aldar Tsydenzhapov, alongside the medium-sized sea tanker Pechenga. The crews practiced defensive operations against an aerial attack and engaged in simulated naval combat, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Defence Ministry's Telegram channel.
"A Ka-27M helicopter was deployed for reconnaissance and fire correction, while shipboard artillery crews carried out daytime and nighttime live-fire exercises using 100-mm A-190 guns and 30-mm AK-630M systems. All designated targets, simulated by the combat information system, were successfully engaged," the ministry's statement read.
Following the completion of the exercises, the corvettes Rezky and Hero of Russia Aldar Tsydenzhapov performed an underway refueling operation from the tanker Pechenga, demonstrating the fleet’s extended operational capabilities.
