Russian president invites Iraq’s prime minister to GECF summit in Moscow
Iraq’s Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has received an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend a summit of heads of state of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which will be held in Moscow at the end of October, TASS reports.
According to a statement from the Iraqi prime minister’s office, the invitation was delivered during a meeting between al-Zaidi and Russia’s ambassador to Baghdad, Elbrus Kutrashev.
“The Prime Minister of Iraq received an invitation from the President of Russia to take part in the eighth meeting of heads of state and government participating in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, which will be held in the Russian capital on October 27,” the statement said.
The Russian ambassador also delivered two written messages of congratulations from Putin and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, emphasising the importance of bilateral relations based on friendship and mutual respect, as well as a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation for regional and international stability and security.
