Russian senator predicts emergence of EU-led “Euro-NATO” without US
Member of the Russian Federation Council Committee Alexei Pushkov has suggested that the European Union could eventually develop into an independent military alliance — dubbed “Euro-NATO” — that would operate without the participation of the United States.
As Caliber. Az reports, Pushkov made the remarks on his Telegram channel.
According to Pushkov, EU leaders, recognizing that Ukraine’s accession to NATO is currently unfeasible, are exploring ways to strengthen the EU’s military dimension and build their own capabilities to support Kyiv. He warned that this trajectory could ultimately result in the creation of a “Euro-NATO,” comprising EU member states and the United Kingdom but excluding the US.
Pushkov also cited statements from European officials about the end of the “Pax Americana” era and the growing emphasis on Europe’s self-reliance in defence matters. He described this strategic shift as a doctrinal foundation for the EU’s potential transformation into a fully-fledged military union.
