Russian strike on Odesa damages residential buildings, injures two PHOTO
A Russian attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa and the surrounding region overnight left residential buildings damaged, port infrastructure hit, and at least two people injured, Ukrainian authorities reported on May 1.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 25 people — including two children — required psychological assistance following the strikes.
“Russian forces struck residential areas and the port. In Odesa, as a result of the strikes, an apartment in a 16-storey building was destroyed and the roof caught fire. In another high-rise building, flames engulfed the 12th floor. Two people were injured,” the agency said in a statement.
Emergency services were deployed to multiple sites across the city, working to extinguish fires and assess the damage.
In the wider Odesa region, port infrastructure facilities were also damaged as a result of the attack, officials added.
All relevant emergency units were operating at the scene. There has been no immediate comment from Moscow regarding the reported strike.
