Russian strikes damage two gas stations in Ukraine's Sumy PHOTO
Russian forces carried out strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine’s Sumy region on May 30, damaging two gas stations in the regional capital and hitting multiple sites overnight in the nearby city of Shostka, Ukrainian emergency services said.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian attacks targeted two fuel stations in Sumy during the morning hours. One unmanned aerial vehicle struck a gas station in the Kovpakivskyi district, triggering a fire. Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties. Another drone fell near a separate gas station in the Zarichnyi district.
Emergency crews responded to the incident, and the fire at one of the gas stations was later localised and fully extinguished.
The strikes followed a large-scale overnight attack on Shostka, also in the Sumy region. Authorities reported damage to residential and non-residential buildings, administrative facilities, and vehicles.
Rescue teams worked across multiple spots to extinguish fires and assess the damage. However, operations were temporarily halted due to the risk of follow-up strikes.
No further details on casualties or the full extent of destruction were immediately available.
