Russian strikes trigger fires in Ukraine’s Donetsk region PHOTO

Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Donetsk region have caused multiple fires and damage to civilian infrastructure, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.

In a statement, the agency said rescue teams extinguished three fires over the past 24 hours that were caused by Russian shelling, Caliber.Az reports. 

Officials said a drone strike on the city of Kramatorsk ignited a fire at a local enterprise. Firefighters extinguished a blaze in a two-storey building covering around 600 square metres.

In the city of Sloviansk, shelling damaged a shop building and seven vehicles. Five of the vehicles caught fire, with firefighters later extinguishing a blaze covering 36 square metres.

“Over the past 24 hours, rescue workers in the Donetsk region have extinguished three fires caused by enemy shelling,” the State Emergency Service said.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incidents.
