Russian, UAE president discuss worsening situation in Persian Gulf region
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral ties and the situation in the Persian Gulf region.
According to TASS, Putin congratulated the UAE president on his 65th birthday during the call, wishing him good health, prosperity, and continued success. The Russian leader also highlighted Al Nahyan’s contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and the United Arab Emirates.
Both presidents emphasised the dynamic development of bilateral relations across all areas of cooperation.
The conversation also addressed the situation in the Persian Gulf region. The two leaders noted the deterioration of the situation and the serious consequences it could have for Iran as well as for Arab countries.
Putin stressed the importance of halting further escalation and resolving the conflict through diplomatic means.
He also thanked Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the assistance provided to Russian citizens currently in the United Arab Emirates.
