“Samurai” attacks Yokohama tyre plant with katana, acid in Japan VIDEO
A man armed with a katana attacked the Yokohama Rubber Mishima tyre factory in Japan.
Fifteen people were injured, and all were hospitalised, six of them with stab wounds, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Telegram channel Mash.
In addition to the katana, the attacker reportedly carried sulfuric acid, which he poured on each victim.
The attacker was also wearing a gas mask. Police confirmed the suspect’s arrest and have launched an investigation.
Yokohama Company operates a factory in Mishima, producing tyres for trucks and buses, according to its corporate website.
Japan experiences relatively low rates of violent crime, supported by strict gun control laws and a low murder rate.
Nonetheless, isolated incidents do occur, including stabbings and rare shootings, such as the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2022.
In 2023, a Japanese man went on a shooting and stabbing spree that killed four people, including two police officers, for which he was sentenced to death in October.
