Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), met with a US Congressional delegation at the Munich Security Conference, as he posted on X.
The delegation, led by Senator Lindsey Graham, included Senators Sheldon Whitehouse, Jacky Rosen, Peter Welch, and Andy Kim, Caliber.Az reports.
Abdi praised the legislators under Graham’s leadership as some of the most prominent defenders of the rights of the Kurdish people and the Syrian Democratic Forces, highlighting Graham’s proposed “Save The Kurds Act” as an important step.
“Throughout the past period, these esteemed members, under the leadership of Senator Graham, have been among the most prominent advocates for the rights of our people and our forces. They have maintained constant contact with us, hearing our calls and engaging with the evolving situation on the ground,” he wrote.
In response, the US senators emphasised the importance of continuing dialogue, fully implementing agreed measures, and ensuring measurable progress toward inclusive governance and human rights protection.
They reaffirmed the US Congress’s commitment to supporting the development of a stable and sovereign Syria, describing it as crucial for regional security.
