Serbian minister praises Azerbaijan’s World Environment Day organisation
Serbian Minister of Environmental Protection Sara Pavkov has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for the successful organisation of World Environment Day (WED).
Speaking at an event dedicated to WED, she said Azerbaijan’s hosting of such an event demonstrates its strength of shared vision, commitment, and collective action, and sets a high benchmark for future host countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Earlier, Rashad Ismayilov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, has announced that the right to host World Environment Day in 2027 has been transferred from Azerbaijan to Serbia.
WED 2026 was organised in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
It is observed annually on June 5, since its establishment in 1973.
