Six children injured in fire at Tokyo primary school

At least six children were injured after a fire broke out at a primary school in Tokyo’s Kita ward.

The school, which has around 300 pupils, was quickly evacuated as emergency services responded to the blaze. Students were moved to a nearby park for safety, Caliber.Az reports via Japanese media. 

The fire is believed to have started in the school’s music room, though the exact cause has not yet been confirmed.

One teacher was also injured in the incident.

Footage from the scene showed thick black smoke rising from the building as more than 50 fire crews worked to bring the fire under control.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
