Fico urges immediate EU-Russia dialogue after drone incident in Romania

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has called for the immediate start of dialogue between the European Union and Russia following a drone incident in Romania, he said in a Facebook post.

“Several days ago, I stated that in the absence of dialogue between the EU and Russia, any stray drone could lead to such an escalation of tensions that we would not be able to overcome it. In connection with the UAV incident, I express full solidarity with the Romanian government. I urge restraint in statements involving the use of force and once again call for the immediate launch of dialogue between the EU and Russia,” Fico wrote.

Earlier, Romania’s Defence Ministry reported that a drone had crashed onto the roof of a residential building in the city of Galați. Bucharest blamed Russia for the incident.
