SOHR: Hezbollah militants attack border village in Syria
Clashes involving heavy and medium weaponry erupted in the early hours of January 14 between members of the Lebanese Hezbollah and locals in Al-Misreyah village, located in Al-Qusayr on the Syria-Lebanon border. No casualties have been reported so far.
According to local sources, Hezbollah forces launched an attack on the village from three directions, prompting residents to call on the Military Operations Administration for reinforcements to repel the assault, Caliber.Az reports via SOHR.
The village of Al-Misreyah and other areas in the Al-Qusayr countryside are reportedly used by Hezbollah as weapons storage sites. The exact locations of these stockpiles remain unknown, but the group has been attempting to smuggle the weapons into Lebanon, particularly following the weakening of the Al-Assad regime.
In a related development, fierce clashes broke out this morning between the Military Operations Administration and Hezbollah fighters in an area between Harmal and Al-Qusayr. The fighting erupted during an attempt by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons from Al-Qusayr city to Lebanon. No casualties have been reported in these confrontations either.
The Al-Qusayr region, which comprises the city itself and over 80 surrounding villages and towns, holds significant strategic and symbolic value for Hezbollah. Although the group has established control over other areas along the Syria-Lebanon border, Al-Qusayr remains a critical hub for its operations.
