“Songs of Victory” event celebrates Azerbaijan’s Victory Day in Tatarstan PHOTO

09 November 2025 13:41

A ceremonial event, “Songs of Victory” (Zəfər nəğmələri), dedicated to Azerbaijan’s Victory Day—a date that has become a symbol of national unity, heroism, and pride in the homeland—was held at the Representative Office of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was organised by the Council of Elders of the Tatar Diaspora in Azerbaijan with the support of Tatar public organisations and the assistance of the Representative Office of the Republic of Tatarstan in Azerbaijan, Azertag reports.

The event began with a ceremonial march of the Karabakh War veterans, who carried the symbols of Victory to the sound of applause.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of the fallen heroes, and prayers were read for the repose of their souls.

The event, held in an atmosphere of pride and unity, was attended by veterans, military personnel, government and public figures, representatives of science, culture, and art, intellectuals, and youth.

The heroes wore combat orders and medals on their chests, and guests held the flags of Azerbaijan and Tatarstan, symbolising the friendship and mutual respect of the two fraternal peoples.

A special moment of the concert was the performances by veterans of the First Karabakh War—Nail Bektimirov, Rafik Salimov, and Albert Menyaev.

Also performing was researcher Aipara Rustamova from the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, the author of studies and scientific articles on Karabakh veterans of Tatar nationality. She expressed satisfaction that the friendship between Azerbaijan and Tatarstan grows stronger each year, and that the memory of the heroes remains forever in the hearts of the people.

The festive event featured performances by vocalist Ilham Gamidov, ensembles “Lale” (K. Nasyri Center), “Ak kalfak”, “Tugan tel”, “Igray, garmon”, the dance group “Yalkyn”, and many other artists. Songs performed included “Azerbaijan,” “Karabakh,” “Long Live Azerbaijan!,” “Min yaratam sine, Tatarstan!” as well as poetic and musical pieces in Tatar, Azerbaijani, and Russian, symbolizing spiritual unity and mutual understanding.

Young Madina Huseynova presented a vibrant dance composition, “Shusha Mountains,” conveying the spirit of victory, pride, and love for the homeland.

During the celebration, a photo exhibition “Our Heroes” was opened, showcasing the valor and feats of Azerbaijan’s defenders.

At the conclusion, Karabakh War veterans expressed their gratitude for the well-organized concert, the attention to veterans, and the preservation of historical memory.
