Spain to resume diplomatic operations in Iran following ceasefire agreement
Spain will resume diplomatic operations in Iran after its foreign minister, Jose Manuel Albares, instructed the country’s ambassador to return to Tehran.
Speaking to journalists, Albares confirmed that the ambassador has been directed to reassume leadership of the diplomatic mission and restore its activities in the Iranian capital, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“I have instructed our ambassador in Tehran to return, once again take charge of the diplomatic mission, and reopen the Embassy of Spain in Tehran,” he said.
The decision comes in the wake of a ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran. The Spanish embassy had previously suspended operations, and its staff were evacuated from the country on March 7.
