Special envoy: US-Russia talks on Ukraine show positive atmosphere, progress
US president's Special Envoy Steven Witkoff has shared details about his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing the atmosphere as positive and the discussion focused on finding solutions to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Witkoff revealed in an interview that the meeting lasted for three to four hours and centred on exploring potential resolutions to the crisis, Caliber.Az reports.
He emphasised that the gap between Moscow and Washington is narrowing, and the US government remains hopeful for significant progress on Ukraine in the coming weeks. The special envoy highlighted that both President Putin and US President Donald Trump support the idea of ending military actions in Ukraine soon, a statement suggesting a potential shift toward diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
In addition, Witkoff confirmed that an upcoming call between President Putin and President Trump is expected in the near future, signaling a possible continuation of dialogue aimed at resolving the conflict.
