Spokesman: US strikes dozens of targets in Yemen
United States has launched dozens of airstrikes on territory controlled by Houthi rebels in Yemen, with reports indicating casualties among both the dead and wounded.
Spokesman for Yemen's Houthi rebels Yahya Saree has described the attacks as a "blatant act of aggression" against Yemen, Caliber.Az reports, citing Yemeni media.
He stated that the strikes targeted several areas across the capital Sana'a, Saada, and other provinces.
Saree claimed that the aerial bombardments resulted in significant casualties, though specific figures have not been confirmed. The strikes come amid ongoing tensions in the region, where the US has been involved in supporting Saudi-led coalition efforts against the Houthis in the protracted conflict.
The US has yet to provide an official statement regarding the reported strikes.
To recall, the US Air Force has bolstered its presence in the Middle East with the deployment of A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft and 300 personnel from the 124th Fighter Wing, based in Idaho, under US Central Command.
This move aims to address growing regional tensions, particularly between the US and Iran. The 124th Fighter Wing has a long history of supporting US operations in the region.
In addition, B-2 bombers have been stationed at Diego Garcia, and the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier has been deployed to counter threats from Houthi rebels targeting maritime traffic.
