Strong 6.1 earthquake hits off Indonesia’s Sumatra coast

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia’s Sumatra island on August 18, according to British media.

Indonesia’s Geophysics Agency said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 29 kilometres.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
