Support for Germany’s ruling coalition hits record low
Germany’s ruling coalition, consisting of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) together with the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has seen its public support fall to a record low of 38% since taking office.

The CDU/CSU currently holds 24% support, one percentage point less than the previous week - the bloc’s weakest performance in the last six months. The SPD also lost one point, dropping to 14%. Their combined support has fallen to 38% - the lowest point since the coalition came into being in May, according to the poll.
The report notes that the CDU/CSU and SPD have together lost about 7 percentage points, equivalent to roughly one in six voters. Meanwhile, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) leads the poll with 26%. The Left Party has gained one point to reach 12%, overtaking the Greens, who currently stand at 11%.
Other political parties remain below the 5% threshold required to enter the Bundestag.
