Sweden adds €63.8 million more to Ukraine energy support fund
The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) has transferred €63.82 million to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund, bringing SIDA’s total contributions to €203.08 million, including €44.68 million allocated to a special account for nuclear safety.
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, thanks to Sweden’s financial support, equipment has been purchased for a distributed generation project in one of Ukraine’s most energy-deficient regions, Caliber.Az reports.
SIDA funds were also used to acquire essential equipment for “Ukrenergo” and distribution system operators in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernihiv regions.
“We sincerely thank our Swedish partners for this assistance, which makes a significant contribution to Ukraine’s energy resilience amid Russian aggression. With this support, we are not only restoring damaged infrastructure but also commissioning new generation capacities,” said Deputy Energy Minister Roman Andarak.
Sweden is the second-largest donor to the Fund after Germany, which previously contributed the largest single donation since the Fund’s creation—€160.11 million.
As of December 25, 2025, the Fund has received over €1.521 billion in grant funds, including €258 million in new contributions in December alone.
The funds are used to purchase equipment, spare parts, and materials necessary for restoring and stabilising Ukraine’s energy system following Russian attacks.
