Sweden vows to become carbon neutral by 2045
09 November 2022 05:58
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has said that the Swedish authorities intend to achieve a balance between carbon dioxide emissions and absorption within the next 20 years.
Sweden expects to achieve this goal by 2045, TASS quoted Kristersson as saying.
"Proceeding from the research, we must accelerate the process of reducing emissions. Sweden will become climate neutral by 2045 at the latest", he noted.
The prime minister noted that Sweden called on the participants of the UN climate summit, which is being held in Egypt, to impress the country with the achievement of similar results in a shorter period of time.
He also added that the entire international community must more actively reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
