Syria, Saudi company sign cybersecurity cooperation deal for energy sector

Syria’s Ministry of Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi company Cipher to strengthen cooperation on cybersecurity in the energy sector.

Under the agreement, the parties plan to establish an integrated system to protect critical energy infrastructure. Cooperation will focus on developing a regulatory framework, standards and technical regulations for cybersecurity in the sector, Caliber.Az reports per Syrian media.

The sides also plan to align existing protection mechanisms with international standards.

The agreement is expected to strengthen the protection of strategic facilities, improve the detection of digital threats and enhance responses to potential cyberattacks.

The planned technological solutions are also intended to help ensure the continuity of energy production and protect confidential infrastructure data from external interference.
