Syria to begin accepting return requests from former volunteer officers
The Syrian Ministry of Defence has announced that it will “very soon” begin accepting return requests from volunteer officers who previously left service, following the completion of required internal procedures.
Asaad Ghliyoun, Director of Media and Communication at the ministry, stated on his official Facebook page that “volunteer officers are an essential part of the new army, and for their role in the early separation from the treacherous army and their participation in the Syrian revolution,” highlighting their importance within the ministry’s ongoing administrative reforms, Caliber.Az reports, citing SANA.
Ghliyoun said the decision comes after finalising “essential procedures” and nearing the completion of the file concerning officers who had left service.
“The delay,” he explained, “was only due to the need to finalise basic steps that paved the way for this decision.”
While the ministry did not provide a specific date for when the process would begin, it confirmed that an official announcement would be made through its formal communication channels once all administrative steps are completed.
