Syrian army arrests eight allegedly linked to former regime
Syrian army forces have arrested eight people accused of links to the former government while they were attempting to flee toward areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern Aleppo countryside, state media reported.
The Ministry of Defence said the arrests were carried out near the town of Deir Hafer, east of Aleppo. The individuals were allegedly trying to cross illegally into territory held by the SDF, SANA reports.
The ministry said the detainees have been transferred to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.
The arrests are part of ongoing security operations aimed at pursuing individuals wanted for alleged ties to the former regime, preventing unauthorised border crossings, and maintaining security and stability in the area, the statement added.
