Syrian army to target SDF positions, urges residents to steer clear
Syrian Arab Army Operations Command announced on January 8 that it will conduct concentrated operations against SDF positions in the neighbourhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid.
The command urged civilians to avoid all areas held by SDF fighters, Caliber.Az reports via Syrian media.
A curfew has been imposed in the affected neighbourhoods, effective from 1:30 PM until further notice, as the army prepares to carry out targeted actions against SDF positions. Civilians were specifically advised to immediately leave all SDF-held locations before operations commence.
Meanwhile, the Aleppo governorate has extended the safe exit window for civilians and families trapped in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh until 1:00 PM on January 8.
SDF forces have been attacking residential neighbourhoods in Aleppo for the past three days, resulting in the deaths of three civilians, including two women, and wounding 27 others, among them two children.
