Syrian internal security forces have arrested a man identified as a senior militia figure during a joint operation in the Tartous countryside, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.
The Internal Security Directorate in the town of Safita said it carried out the operation in coordination with the local Counterterrorism Branch, resulting in the arrest of Shujaa Ibrahim, SANA reports.

Authorities identified him as the leader of a faction affiliated with the “al-Taramih” militia, which they said had links to Division 25, a military unit formerly commanded by Suhail al-Hassan under Syria’s previous leadership.
According to preliminary findings cited by the ministry, Ibrahim previously held a senior role within the militia in the town of Khattab in Hama province. Officials allege that he used his position to organise and coordinate criminal activities targeting local residents.
The Ministry of Interior said Ibrahim has been transferred to the Counterterrorism Directorate for further investigation and completion of legal procedures, before being referred to the competent judicial authorities.
