Syrian defence minister inspects ceasefire across all fronts
Syrian Defence Minister Major General Murhaf Abu Qasra, alongside Chief of the General Staff Major General Ali Al Nassan and Head of Operations Brigadier General Hamza Al Hamidi, conducted an inspection of the ceasefire implementation across all battlefronts.
The inspection came after the agreement reached this evening between the Syrian state and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Caliber.Az reports via Syrian media.
“To the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, the courage, sacrifice, discipline, and adherence to orders you have shown in the field over the past days are the finest example of an army born from the people to protect them, defend them, and safeguard their property. As we honour our noble martyrs who gave their lives defending the homeland and the dignity of its people, we also wish a speedy recovery to our wounded,” the Minister of Defence said in a statement posted on the (X) platform.
Major General Abu Qasra further stated: “Since its formation, our army has been founded on protecting civilians and ensuring their safety, sacrificing lives so that Syrians of all backgrounds may live with dignity. Today, through your discipline and precision, you have demonstrated this to the entire world. May you be rewarded for your efforts.”
The agreement, signed by President Ahmad al-Sharaa on January 18, formalised the ceasefire and full integration between the Syrian government and the SDF.
