Syrian, Iraqi foreign ministers discuss strengthening ties in Damascus
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani met his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, in Damascus to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across a range of sectors, Syria's Foreign Ministry said.
According to the ministry, the two ministers reviewed ways to deepen cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultations, Caliber.Az reports.
"During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and develop joint cooperation in various fields for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly peoples. They also emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and consultations, which contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region," the ministry said in a statement.
Following the talks, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa received Hussein and the accompanying Iraqi delegation at the People's Palace in Damascus, according to the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
