Syrian minister urges state media to prioritise national interest and social cohesion photo
On December 25, Syria’s Minister of Information, Hamza al-Mustafa, called on state media to adopt a more inclusive discourse, urging the development of a unified national narrative that places the country’s interests at the forefront.
According to Syrian media, addressing a meeting with department heads and directors of media organisations operating under the Ministry of Information, al-Mustafa said state media must adjust its messaging to help support stability and development during what he described as a sensitive phase for the country.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed recent developments in Syria and instructed officials to shape a national media narrative that strengthens social cohesion and supports reconstruction efforts.
“The national interest must come before all else,” al-Mustafa said, calling for a rational and inclusive discourse that reflects current realities and positions state media as a constructive force in rebuilding society.
He also stressed the need to improve administrative performance within media institutions, urging the introduction of professionally prepared monthly performance reports that clearly document achievements and production efficiency across the ministry.
The meeting forms part of a broader set of initiatives by the Ministry of Information aimed at modernizing institutional performance and recalibrating state media messaging to align with current conditions. These efforts are intended to bolster stability, promote development, and rebuild public trust in official institutions.
